Part 2, … So I enrolled in one of their Bible School classes.
When I had completed it, they had a
graduation ceremony for us. At the ceremony, we each received a certificate.
Each certificate had a different award type. The church’s leadership team, who
were also our teachers, chose to acknowledge every individual with awards based
upon the student’s classroom performance. Each award had a Biblical name and a
related scripture printed on it. When it came time for me to receive mine, I was
surprised and delighted to know that I received the “Paul Award”. The related
scripture was, and has been, my favorite and what I’ve based my life-story on.
The scripture is, Phil 4:9-10 "that
I might know Him, and the power of His resurrection". But the part
that personally has been my Christian experience for over 30 years has been what
follows afterwards… "and the
fellowship of His sufferings". That,
dear friends and family has, been my "thorn in the flesh".
We, and I mean, me, must realize that our calling and our new
identity as a disciple of Jesus Christ literally mean that we are supposed to
live as He lived.
He was rejected
by His own, so are we.
He was scorned
and mocked, so are we.
We are despised
and rejected, so are we.
He was
misunderstood, so are we.
He gave up His
own life for those who hated Him.
We give up our
lives (our way of living opposed to God) to live as He lived.
He rose from
the dead.
We rise from
our death (our sins and old sinful habits).
He rose in
glory and power.
We rise with
His glory and power through us.
After writing all of that, I’d realized 3 things: One is God
knows how to lift you up, when you’re feeling down…. (this is the end of part 2 of my post, it’s
rather long so I didn’t want to give it to you guys all at once. Please return
back later for the conclusion)
