8/11/2010-Dealing with Vulnerability

This area I've never been good at...letting others know my needs, and admitting that I cannot make it on my own...

It's difficult asking for their assistance so I can make it through my struggles...

It's admitting that I don't have it all together....

But neither do you...

We're all damaged goods....but we can become better than we could ever hope for...

We all need help from someone else, someone who gives us the strength and the ability to move forward...

My choice is God... To me, He's my help and my strength...

I would be totally hopeless and helpless w/o Him...

He fills me with His love, shows me His mercy, and covers me with His grace...

No, this life isn't perfect, not for anyone, even those who are followers of God...

I used to think that, but that just another lie...

Anyway, it's hard to look in the mirror sometimes...

I don't always like what I see..

I'm use to believing that it was everyone else's fault that I had problems...

But now I have to face the truth... and the truth is both scary and humbling...

I'm solely responsible for everything...

everything good, everything bad...and the truth really hurts!

But it's by being courageous, facing life head on, focussing on the hope that I have

It's by asking for strength to overcome the darkness ...

It's by sharing my needs with others in prayer...

It's by talking with wise counselors...

that I grow...and it's the only way to grow...for you and for me...

HAVE YOU BEEN POISONED?

How you can tell when you’ve been poisoned . Your actions and attitudes are toxic ! Toxic thoughts lead to toxic actions. Toxic thinking poisons others around us. Eventually toxic thinking leads to death (dreams). Watch out that the toxics around you don’t get inside you . How do you counteract toxicity? Speaking, thinking and acting positive activates life in you, around you, and gives life (energy) to others.

My experience at PODD for Men’s Fellowship

Being at the PODD felt like being at home, but I’m all grown up now . Don’t get me wrong. I loved the praise and worship music team. They really brought us into the presence of God. I loved rejoining with my brothers in Christ. It was good greeting my former pastor and friend. It’s felt good remembering all of the good times, and the not so good times we had there. But I’m not supposed to remain there. Now I belong to a new church, and a new body of believers. Eventually, I had to leave for my new home , and be with my new family .

Dealing with marital differences

I find the more I talk to people, the more they tell me the number one thing that is frustrating them in marriage, they don’t understand their spouse . Men don’t understand women, women don’t understand men. Being around women most of the time has given me some insight on how they think, how they feel, and how they react to situations. Guess what guys? God made them different from us. But thank God, He gives us the blueprint to help us, the Bible. My suggestion is this: Whenever you feel really frustrated or anxious about your wife’s behavior and her attitude, take your Bible and go into your prayer closet. Pray this prayer, “Father God, please change ME to deal with my wife in a way that honors you”. Right now, I probably lost 99% of you with that prayer. I know you would rather be like James and John and ask the Lord to rain down fire on your wife’s head. Maybe then she would submit herself to your leadership. But trust me on this. If you are truly seeking God’s will for your life, y...
